Call for applications NWO Rubicon Grants

The NWO invites applications for its Rubicon grants. These aim to encourage talented young researchers who have recently defended their PhD at a Dutch university to dedicate themselves to careers in postdoctoral research. For this, the Rubicon grant offers them a two year research stay abroad.
Candidates can apply for a stay at a top academic research institute outside the Netherlands.

Who can apply? Postgraduates who are currently engaged in doctoral research or who have been awarded a doctorate in the 12 months preceding the relevant deadline are invited to apply. Applicants who are still engaged in doctoral research may only apply if their supervisor provides a written declaration approving their thesis. Female researchers are particularly encouraged to apply. In the five years directly preceding the submission deadline applicants must have conducted scientific research at an academic research institute in the Netherlands for a period at least equivalent to three years full-time. Applications must be submitted by individual researchers and not by pairs or teams of researchers. Each candidate may only submit an application for a Rubicon grant once. The closing date for applications for this round is 28 November 2013.

The total budget for the November 2013 round is €2.3 million. The research should take one to two years. Funding will cover salary, research and travel costs. Proposals must be written in English. There are three Rubicon calls per year. The 2014 deadlines are 2.4.2013, 3.9.2014 and 27.11.2014.
