To further stimulate the topic of ‘valorisation’, FASoS is introducing an annual ‘valorisation’ prize. A committee consisting of three FASoS members and chaired by the Associate Dean of Research will be responsible for choosing the prize winner. FASoS is looking for three enthusiastic colleagues who have an affinity with the topic of ‘valorisation’ to join the prize committee for two consecutive years. Application deadline: Tuesday 31 January 2017.
At FASoS, we conceptualise ‘valorisation’ as creating and demonstrating the societal value and relevance of our academic work. As such, ‘valorisation’ is not only concerned with knowledge utilisation, but covers many forms of societal engagement, on different levels (local, regional, national and international) and with diverse partners and communities. Our activities for example include staging exhibitions, writing policy reports, and organising science festivals. In addition to this, we aim to co-create knowledge with societal partners and contribute to public debates. We are committed to developing tools to demonstrate and assess the societal relevance of our research. At FASoS, ‘valorisation’ is a sub-dimension of research that builds on the faculty’s tradition of engaging with societal challenges both in research and teaching.
Your application will be reviewed by the associate dean of research, who will nominate the committee members. Nominations will be validated by the Faculty Board.
Members of the prize committee cannot submit a prize application during the 2 years of their membership. There are no solver hours for this task. The selected candidates are expected to start in February 2017. The prize committee will meet on one occasion in May. The chair of the prize committee will award the ‘valorisation’ prize at the Research Heidag in September.
