Call for expressions of interest: virtual international cooperation

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) has launched a fund for virtual international cooperation. If you are interested in applying, please submit an expression of interest by 24 August.

The subsidy is intended for buy-out (vrijroosteren) to design, develop, and implement or revise a virtual international cooperation project. It is aimed at teachers and educationalists. A standard amount of €15,000 will be made available for each successful application.

The project should have the following features:

  • Dutch students work together with foreign students, linking local issues to an international perspective.
  • Students work on their international and intercultural competences and language and digital skills.
  • The end product cannot be achieved without input from both sides.

Kindly note that your proposal will not be eligible for this subsidy if:

  • You have already obtained funding for this activity from the ministry or other governing bodies.
  • You intend to design or develop a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
  • You intend to design or develop a virtual exchange programme, whereby students follow online education at a foreign higher education provider.

If successful, your project must commence within 6 months of the date that funds are granted. The activities must be completed within 18 months of this date. More information is available here and here. If you cannot read Dutch, please do not hesitate to contact Kim (k.vanhonk@maastrichtuniversity.nl) for information.

To submit an expression of interest please send a short description of your virtual international project proposal to Kim van Honk (k.vanhonk@maastrichtuniversity.nl) no later than 12.00 on 24 August. Use this form to ensure you include all necessary information. The CvB will make a final selection. If your project is selected, you will be invited to work on a full proposal in the month of September.

We regret the very short notice of this announcement. The fund will remain in place for several years. We expect the next call in January/February 2022.
