Call for Internship Coordinator BA programmes

In the 5th semester (first half of year 3) in which BA students can choose between the three options minor, exchange or internship, attention on the latter is felt to be neglected.

In this respect, the mentor programme only organises one lecture in year 2 for the different BA programmes. These mainly focus on the procedural aspects of internships (e.g. the procedure to follow to come to an internship agreement with the faculty), while a practical form of advice on internship opportunities, applications and procedures is still needed.

Therefore, FASoS is establishing the position of Internship Coordinator overarching the three BA programmes.

The internship coordinator would be tasked with coordinating and managing the internships of the BA ES, BA AC and BA DS, and engage in building up and maintaining a network of host organisations and institutions for BA students. As this is a new position, the internship coordinator would closely liaise with the BA programme directors and our international relations officer Resi Schenk, to coordinate tasks and jointly agree on a plan of action. The internship coordinator is not expected to offer 1-1 support to students, but rather ensure that students are informed about the internship programme and the involved timelines, milestones and relevant administrative and grading procedures. The internship coordinator would also frequently inform students about available and potential internship opportunities, flowing from the (consolidating) network of host organisations, including the relevant alumni networks.

Tasks:

  • Close liaison with the BA programme directors and our international relations officer Resi Schenk, to jointly agree on specific tasks and a plan of action with regards to the coordination of internships;
  • Building up and maintaining a network of host organisations and institutions for BA students’ internships, including the relevant alumni networks;
  • Supporting the BA DS in launching the internship programme;
  • Facilitating BA students in identifying and finding suitable internship opportunities by frequently communicating opportunities for internships from the (growing) network of host organisations and relevant alumni networks;

The position is supported by 70 normuren (subject to review after one year in light of actual workload).

Requirements:

  • Good working-knowledge of the contents of at least two of the three BA programs (BA AC, BA DS, BA ES);
  • Good networking & management/coordination skills;
  • Embeddedness in relevant professional networks.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send a short motivation letter (max. 1 page) by 15 March 2021 to: secr.philotss@maastrichtuniversity.nl.
