The Niels Stensen Fellowship Committee annually offers seven fellowships to young, excellent, Catholic researchers. Researchers who have recently obtained their PhD or expect to do so soon can use this fellowship to gain their first international research experience.
An applicant should be nominated by two different professors, whose nomination letters must be submitted to the Fellowship Committee before 1 May 2013.
For being eligible for a Niels Stensen fellowship you need to:
* be a Catholic. The aim of the Niels Stensen Fellowship is to contribute to the development of Catholic scientists. However, the extent to which someone practices Catholicism is a private matter.
* have obtained your PhD between 15.06.2011 and 15.06.2013,
OR
* obtain your PhD in the near future. In this case the manuscript must be approved of before 01.01.2014.
* be excellent. Candidates must have a high aptitude for scientific research and knowledge utilization. They should be seen as future prominent members of the Dutch scientific community, and the professors’ nomination letters should make this clear.
* go abroad. It is intended that the fellow goes abroad for a minimum of nine and a maximum of twelve months (the latter is preferred). The host institution should preferably be somewhere where the candidate has not yet conducted research at an earlier career stage.
* return to the Netherlands. The candidate should return to a position at a Dutch university after completion of the fellowship.
