Why are we performing these user journey interviews?

Maastricht University aims to develop a virtual campus that serves the UM-community and provides opportunities regarding social cohesion, or social glue, community building, collaboration and communication. Moreover, there should be a seamless user experience from both a physical and a digital perspective. Not only for now, during all lockdown variants of online, hybrid and blended education, but also in future UM education.

As part of the exploration towards the design of this UM virtual campus, a task force is planning to create user journeys, based on interviews with students and staff.

What about social glue right now?

Additionally, the UM virtual campus taskforce is starting a number of Gathertown pilots – a tool that facilitates social interaction and cohesion at distance right now. One of the projects included is study2gether online by the UM library, as well as a pilot for a group of FPN staff. We have another FPN pilot request for students. Currently, Perry Heymann is getting all prerequisites in place (contract, legal and privacy) to launch the Gathertown pilots as soon as possible.
