Call for Spencer Foundation The New Civics initiative grants

The Spencer Foundation invites applications for its New Civics initiative grants. These support research that deepens the understanding of educational and other influences on civic action, that attends to social inequalities in civic education and civic action, and that has the potential to shape future research and practice in these fields. The aim is to strengthen the research community and its connections to educational policy and practice.

Who can apply? Principal investigators must have earned a doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field, or have appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. Affiliation with a college, university, research facility or cultural institution that is willing to serve as the fiscal agent of the grant is also required.

Each major grant is worth between US$50,001 and US$350,000.

The closing date for application is 14 January 2014.

Please contact Merle Achten, the research funding advisor, for further support with your application.
