Meeting update: European Studies Programme Committee

The European Studies Programme Committee has met up once again to discuss some developments in the curriculum.

Special attention was paid to the elective course Urban Europe and the IWIOs of period 5 for the academic year 2020-2021.

Student Representatives — who are we, and what do we do?

The Student Representatives (SR) are the voice of the Faculty’s students. As a legal body of FASoS, they work together with staff members to improve the study programmes and the FASoS education environment.

Their main work is to represent the voice and interests of FASoS students (at the BA, Pre-MA, or MA levels) in most decision-making bodies of the Faculty.

Meeting update: Arts and Culture Programme Committee

During Wednesday’s Programme Committee Meeting for Arts and Culture we had an extremely productive discussion regarding the evaluations of period 4 courses. We went through each period 4 course across all three years of the programme and delved into the students’ comments.

Meeting update: education management team

During the Education management team meeting, several matters were discussed.

All teaching at FASoS stays online until the end of the academic year. But there is also some good news: students are offered study spaces, which are already in use and highly appreciated, and the programme of social activities for students on campus organised by the Student Representatives has started on 3 May.

Moreover, on 1 June, it will be decided what teaching at FASoS will look like in period 1 of next academic year (September/ October 2021).

Meeting update: Digital Society Programme Committee

This week, our programme director Katleen Gabriels joined our PC meeting to touch upon previously discussed changes to the outline of year 3. We were very pleased to see that our advice got taken into consideration for the planning of the thesis and the courses that year 3 students will be able to take.

Other than that, we discussed the course evaluations of period 2 and 3 of both year 1 and 2. We also had a look at how academic skills could be implemented in the current DS curriculum.

Meeting update: Arts & Culture Programme Committee

In today’s Programme Committee meeting for Arts and Culture we touched upon multiple matters of interest regarding the function of the programme.

We began with a discussion on the nature of our own meetings and whether, in order to encourage and promote transparency, we should consider what would be the right platform to share the meeting’s minutes.
