The Spring Issue of Mosaïek Magazine is now available! The theme is Bodies and our writers cover a variety of topics, from fiction to cosmetic surgery to our relationship with our bodies, and much more.

Christine Neuhold and sister publish article in Observant

Our prospective dean Christine Neuhold and her sister Stephanie have published their fourth article in Observant providing their views on the corona crisis.

They discuss the difference in measures taken by EU governments. Whereas Stephanie can go to the zoo again, Christine is alerted by drones in the park about social distancing.

FASoS ultimate student recipe book

As part of the course ‘Introduction to Digital Technologies II’, first-year BA Digital Society students engaged in a crowdsourcing project. In the project, students were asked to contribute recipes which were collected into a booklet titled ‘the secret ingredient’.

Poetry & picture contest coming to an end

After two months of receiving amazing poetry and beautiful pictures, the poetry and picture contest is coming to an end. The good news is that we will prepare a booklet bringing together all of the material. Details of how that will be available (on paper and digitally) will be announced when it is ready.

We have one last request: send us a photo of your working space. If we have enough, we’ll prepare a collage to include in the booklet, but we will keep the names anonymous.

Poetry and picture competition coming to an end

Over the past weeks, we have received amazing poems and beautiful pictures (photos, paintings, drawings) but we have decided to bring this to an end. Deadline for final entries is Sunday 31 May (send to Sally Wyatt).

In the course of June, Sally, John Parkinson, Paul Stephenson and Eva Durlinger will put together a booklet that will be available in both digital and paper forms.

Picture and poetry contest continues

One of our first poems started with the line ‘There once was a tutor on Zoom’. Recently we encouraged students to come up with their own versions, perhaps inspired by their learning experiences in recent weeks.

Today we feature three written by Guilherme Augusto Feistauer.

Picture and poetry contest in times of corona

Last week we expanded the poetry contest to include photos, paintings and drawings. We received many beautiful works of art.

This week we share a drawing by Jehian Leupen, from the BA European Studies. He calls the piece ‘Fleeting Moments’, under his pen name ‘clownpla_by_jeb’.

UM Heritage Series: Taehoon Lee & South Korea

UM Heritage is a campaign which aims to show different students’ cultures and traditions of their home country.

In this episode, Taehoon Lee, third-year European Studies student, takes us on a journey to his home country South Korea. Rapid growth and development, K-pop music, Hanok villages and preserved traditions are mixed with tales about division of the North and South.
