Launch podcast on Dutch European heritage, on 12 January 2023

Join the launch of the new DutchCulture podcast ‘Europees Erfgoed’! In this podcast, Dutch heritage sites that carry the European Heritage label will be discussed. The launch will be an evening full of stories about Europe, heritage around us and hidden histories.

Lots of trees planted thanks to Ecosia search engine at UM

The use of the Ecosia at UM has increased substantially since this search engine has been added to the Student Desktop.

As Ecosia uses 80% or more of its profits to help non-profit organisations that focus on reforestation, the use of this search engine at UM has also led to the planting of a lot of trees. To be exact, a total of 321956 searches have been made and 4445 trees have been planted.

SG and Opera Zuid: Lady in the Dark, on 11 December

Studium Generale and Opera Zuid are teaming up to offer students the opportunity to see ‘Lady in the Dark’ (performed in English, Dutch subtitles).

This opera tells the story of Liza Elliott, the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine who experiences high pressure at work and in her private life.

On 23 December in the Auditorium Minderbroedersberg from 16.00 – 17.00, the first Maastricht University Christmas Karaoke Contest will take place. Open to the entire UM community (students and staff), it will be a social event to celebrate and sing together.
