Christian Ernsten’s research in book, documentary and app

Christian Ernsten’s research on walking as a research method and on emergent Anthropocene landscapes will be published as walking guide, VPRO radio documentary, and walking app.

In the book Voorland Groningen. Wandelingen door het Antropoceen published by nai010 publishers in Rotterdam, Christian Ernsten – in collaboration with journalist Marten Minkema and photographer Dirk-Jan Visser – presents four walks through the Groningen landscape.

These walks, surrounding the villages of Hornhuizen, Loppersum, Usquert and the Eemshaven harbour, address four urgent themes in the Anthropocene landscape locally and globally: water, biodiversity, climate and heritage. The publication directed at a broad audience interested in landscape history, landscape architecture, urban design and ecology, builds on the research by Christian Ernsten into walking as a research method and into emergent Anthropocene landscapes.

You can order the book here and download the walking app (from 19 June onwards) via www.voorlandgroningen.nl and make the walks themselves with an audio tour. Or, you can listen to the radio. On four Sundays, starting 21 June, four short radio documentaries made by Marten Minkema concerning the walks will be broadcast by Radio DOC NPO Radio 1. More information can be found here.
