Collin Prumpeler wins Wynand Wijnen Education Prize

Collin Prumpeler has, together with the Heads of the Office of Student Affairs of the other UM faculties (Judith Buddenberg (FSE), Joel Castermans (SBE), Catharien Kerkman-Brassé (FPN), Roel Gilissen (FdR) and René Nijssen (FHML)), won the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize.

The jury chose to award the prize to the Heads of the Office of Student Affairs because “their contributions are often fundamental and essential in nature”, even though they are “not always very glamorous”. The jury also thought it was worthwhile to shine the light on the support behind education in the faculties. As “often, innovations by teaching staff with new ideas and prestigious projects are in the spotlight. Rarely, the spotlight reaches behind the scenes. And yet, this is where a lot of the work is done. The people in the engine rooms provide stability and continuity against which new ideas and innovation can take place.”

Collin feels grateful to receive the award and views it as an ode to the hard work of all support staff. He is also thankful for the smooth cooperation among the Heads of the Student Affairs Offices of the different faculties. “We work together really well, always look at common ground between the different faculties and try to incorporate similar strategies at all faculties. We all come from different backgrounds, such as planning, processes, operations. Everyone has a different area of expertise and we can rely on each other really well. This leads to a smooth functioning of the system.”
