Coming soon: KNAW call for Academy Colloquia funding

The KNAW will open its call for Academy Colloquia funding in December 2014. The Colloquia aim to bring together a select international group of scientific researchers to discuss a topical theme. Each colloquium must take place in 2015, may last two to three days and must be held at the Trippenhuis building in Amsterdam. The next deadline for submission is Sunday 1 March 2015.

Because the call is not open yet, the following information is subject to change.

The KNAW offers financial and logistical support in organising six or seven research colloquia per year. Academy colloquia grants can only be received when the following criteria are satisfied:

* the colloquium topic must be of great interest to the scientific community;
* research must be conducted at a very high scientific level on this topic in the Netherlands;
* the organiser must account for all income and expenditure; the budget and accounts are subject to the academy’s approval.

Universities and research institutes are eligible to apply for funding.

The KNAW will contribute a maximum of €19,500 per colloquium to cover any shortfall. An additional grant of no more than €3,500 is available to organise a master class immediately following or preceding the colloquium, provided a minimum of 15 doctoral candidates attend. In addition, the academy’s bureau will assist the colloquium organiser with organisational and administrative matters at no charge.
