Council Elections are over. Now what?

This week, the students of FASoS voted for their representatives in the FASoS Faculty Council. There, 5 student members represent the interests of the bachelor’s and master’s students of FASoS.

The FASoS Faculty Council is certainly a very important body, but that’s not all that student representation has to offer in our Faculty.

Our Faculty has the strongest faculty-level student representation at UM. Our team, consisting of 29 members, are here to represent you in all levels of decision-making at FASoS.

The Student Representatives are the voice of the Faculty’s students. As a legal body of FASoS, we work together with the staff to improve the study programmes and the FASoS education environment. Our main work consists of committee meetings in which we represent students’ opinions about issues like the quality and compatibility level of examination, the Problem Based Learning, assessment feedback, the course registration procedure, or the performance of tutors or lecturers.

Moreover, the Student Representatives meet weekly to discuss and put forth proposals to improve the quality of student life at the Faculty in fields like education, integration, and internationalisation. We also organise the summer and winter Faculty Drinks together with SoFASoS, and the annual Career Orientation Day where students get to interact with FASoS alumni.

Student Representatives sit in the following Faculty Committees:

  • Programme Committee of European Studies and Programme Committee of Arts & Culture/Cultuurwetenschappen, Digital Society
  • Programme Committees of Master Programmes
  • Education Management Team (OMT)
  • Library Committee
  • Complaints Committee
  • A student advisor to the Faculty Board
  • Faculty Council (elected by the students)

If you have a problem or an idea, feel free to contact us. We are always happy to receive comments and suggestions about the study programmes, the Faculty’s facilities, or broader topics about education at FASoS. Students can also come to the Student Representatives with problems such as disagreements with tutors, confusion about the structure or content of your study, or help carrying out a project at the Faculty. You can get in touch via email at, Facebook, or Instagram.

Keep an eye out for our yearly report where we will reflect on all the work we did this academic year!
