The next FASoS CPD workshop takes place on Wednesday 4 March, 11.00 – 13.00, and focuses on individual feedback, probably the most important variable (of those under our control) in influencing student learning success.
John Harbord will discuss how to respond to student writing. Through hands-on discussion exercises you will explore the aims of formative feedback and the techniques available to maximise student learning.

Individual feedback is probably the most important variable (of those under our control) in influencing student learning success. Yet students often complain about “unhelpful”, “unclear”, and “insufficient” feedback. And we often wonder if they even read the painstaking comments we wrote. This workshop focuses on responding to student writing, particularly with regard to writing issues. We will explore the aims of formative feedback and the techniques available to maximise student learning, including hands-on discussion exercises.
This workshop will be lead by FASoS academic writing adviser John Harbord and is worth 2 CPD hours.
