Deadline extended: represent FASoS at EuroSim 2022

Each year our faculty appoints a group of students to represent FASoS at an international EU simulation called ‘EuroSim’, which brings together 200 students from various European and US universities.

In 2022, this annual event is going to take place online from Monday 3 January until Thursday 6 January. The 2022 topic of negotiations is Trade – the regulation on foreign subsidies distorting the internal market.

Please read on for more information about how to apply.

In the past years, our students always did an excellent job. In 2019 they came back with one and in 2020 with three out of five awards! At the same time, it was a highly rewarding experience for them (see impressions from EuroSim participants here).

Team FASoS at EuroSim 2022 – what does it entail, what is expected from you?

  • We are looking for motivated students with a professional attitude and who want to learn more about EU negotiations.
  • Your job would be to represent FASoS during this simulation in the best manner possible; to be motivated, well-prepared, and to behave professionally. During the past few years, FASoS students did an excellent job during this simulation event, and we of course hope to be able to keep up this excellent tradition.
  • As a FASoS representative, you will prepare the simulation by reading up on the regulation on foreign subsidies distorting the internal market and, together with your fellow representatives, prepare for the simulation in a number of meetings (in the course of November and December 2021 during a number of meetings with your FASoS coach).

How to apply?

  • Send a motivation letter (max. 500 words in total), including max. 250 words outlining why you would be the best candidate to represent FASoS in these negotiations and 250 words why you are the best candidate to negotiate this particular topic.
  • A position paper (max. 500 words) on the topic.
  • Attach your CV and an overview of your grades (a screenshot will suffice).
  • Send your application to EuroSim coordinator j.stankovic@maastrichtuniversity.nl with the subject line ‘EuroSim 2022’
  • Extended deadline: Thursday 4 November, 12.00.
  • The best applicants will be informed on Monday 8 November and invited for a short talk on Wednesday 10 November.

If any further questions arise, please contact the EuroSim coordinator at j.stankovic@maastrichtuniversity.nl.
