Important decisions and announcements FB meetings November 2016

The FASoS Faculty Board held three meetings: on 2 November, 16 November and 30 November.

Decisions

  • The Dutch track Cultuurwetenschappen has been revised and will be more integrated in the BA Arts and Culture programme. Dutch as an academic language will be preserved and more Dutch topics will be introduced in the curriculum. Students will be allowed to write exams, papers and thesis in Dutch.

The revised AC programme will start in September 2017. The name ‘Cultuurwetenschappen’ will be dropped; all students register for Arts and Culture.

  • EuroSim 2017: the Board decided to finance part of the travel and accommodation expenses for the participants (one staff member and five students). The amount is €3,980.
  • Currently, researchers who are member of a NWO or H2020 assessment committee get once paid an incentive and for one type of programme. Now it has been decided that the same will apply for a second membership of an assessment committee of the same type of programme.

Announcements

  • The Faculty Board has received seven proposals for a third bachelor’s programme, three have been selected for further discussion and development.
  • The bachelor’s programme Arts and Culture/Cultuurwetenschappen is currently under revision. Electives, courses, graduation phase years 2 and 3, criteria and the Dutch track are being reviewed, and discussed with all parties involved, such as Board, Faculty Council, and Undergraduate Programme Committee.
  • The FASoS Marketing and Communications Department is going to develop and implement an online PR campaign, in which our current FASoS master students play an important role, which will help the faculty to increase the number of master students.
