Dutch Chinese Bridge Competition, on Thursday 15 July

The Confucius Institute Maastricht is hosting the 20th edition of the Dutch Chinese Bridge Competition, which will take place on 15 July 2021.

The competition offers a stage for college and university students (18-30 years of age) from all over the world to not only demonstrate their knowledge of the Chinese language and culture but also showcase their talents!

Interested in participating? Register here before 28 June.

This is a unique opportunity to meet other enthusiastic Chinese learners, enjoy amazing performances, and of course win great prizes like an internship position and/or a trip to China to participate in the global Chinese Bridge finals!

The competition consists of 3 parts:

  • A speech on a self-chosen topic around the theme One World, One Family and a short self-introduction in Chinese.
  • A Q&A round in which participants will be asked one question about Chinese language, Chinese culture or SDG topics. The question bank will be released to qualified contestants before the competition.
  • A talent demonstration where participants will be invited to share one of their talents related to Chinese culture such as Chinese calligraphy, poetry recitation, singing, martial arts, paper cutting, mask painting, etc.

The competition will take place online, allowing contestants to participate from the comfort of their own home. Friends and family are given the opportunity to look at the performances online via the livestream on YouTube, which was used by over 70 people last year.
