Esther Versluis appointed Professor of European Regulatory Governance

We are pleased to announce that Esther Versluis has been appointed Extraordinary Professor on the Special Chair in European Regulatory Governance, based in the department of Political Science at FASoS. Esther Versluis concentrates her research on problems and complexities related to European governance.

Within the globalising world, the growing interconnectedness – and accompanying increasing levels of complexity and uncertainty – makes regulation beyond the nation state a crucial and compelling research object. As a core focus, the special chair European Regulatory Governance will concentrate on challenges related to the European regulation of policy problems. Focusing on challenges in the chemical, health and financial policy sectors, Esther Versluis analyses how complex, uncertain and trans-boundary policy issues are regulated effectively and responsibly at the European level.

Esther Versluis holds a PhD in Public Administration from Utrecht University (2003) for which she received the ‘Van Poelje Prize’ for best PhD in the field of Public Administration. She has worked at Maastricht University since 2001, and she previously worked as a Fulbright visiting scholar at Cornell University (2011). Her new appointment started on Friday 1 May.
