You are invited to join an event that explores the links between data management and privacy on the one hand, and research ethics and scientific integrity on the other. It is jointly organised by the UM Platform for Research Ethics and Integrity and the UM Library and takes place on 18 November 2019, from 8.45 until 12.30, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Maastricht. Participation is free, but registration is required.
Data management and privacy are increasingly important issues for researchers, and they contribute to defining the norms for appropriate scientific practice (integrity) and the procedures in place to protect participants in scientific studies (research ethics). Correct data management is one of the principles of the Dutch code of conduct on scientific integrity, and the UM’s ethical committees include data management and privacy in their ethical reviews.
During the event, we will explore the links between data management and privacy, and research ethics and scientific integrity. We will discuss principles and practices, on the basis of experiences of a number of UM staff members.

- 10.00 – 10.15: Coffee break
- 10.15 – 11.15: Roundtable with Marie Labussiere (FASos), Marieke Hopman (Law) and Sijr Uitdewilligen (FPN)
- 11.15 – 11.55: Presentations by UM Library and Data Protection Officer – support available for researchers
- 11.55 – 12.00: Closing by Prof. Dr. Maurice Zeegers (chair of UM Platform for Research Ethics and Integrity)
- 12.00 -12.30: Lunch
