FASoS Green Impact team ahead of most others

The Green Impact Challenge is in full steam and the FASoS team ‘Soylent Green’ is currently scoring second place. Soylent Green has beaten the team of the Executive Board, UNU-MERIT, Maastricht University Office and five other competing teams. The first place currently belongs to the Student Services Centre.

While change towards sustainability is much more sophisticated than scoring points, still – congratulations!

Soylent Green consists of nine FASoS students and staff members: Charlotte Bens, Manon Beudart, Silvija Burbaite, Timothée Galvaire, John Harbord, Zahar Koretsky, Eliza Marx, Sjoerd Stoffels and Jana Tinkov. The team nickname themselves Soylent Green – the title of a grim Science Fiction thriller that plays in an ecological crumbling world.
Green Impact is a global initiative for univesities to contribute to sustainability, as defined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With the Green Impact campaign, UM encourages staff members and students to participate in a sustainability competition. Participating teams have time until May 2019 to gain credits for sustainability actions – such as encouraging the use of public transport and bikes or working on an advice on double sided printing. By taking concrete action the Green Impact campaign ensures positive, sustainable changes of the work and study place. The competition will conclude at the end of the academic year with an award ceremony.
