FASoS launches Sustainability Platform

FASoS has recently launched the FASoS Sustainability Platform. This platform connects staff, students, ideas and initiatives on sustainability. It seeks to monitor, discuss and reflect on how the FASoS community relates to the challenge of sustainability in research and teaching.

The platform is organised by FASoS staff member Harro van Lente and FASoS student Charlotte Lenhard.

The notion of sustainability is, of course, far from well-defined. It hosts a range of insights, worries and actions that merit attention. While the imminent threats of climate change and the loss of biodiversity tend to be the most visible and urgent issues, sustainability also points to the questions of well-being, justice and intergenerational fairness.

The three main tasks of the platform are:

  1. to collect our ideas, concerns and practices;
  2. to connect to thinking and doing elsewhere, such as the UM2030 initiatives;
  3. to align faculty policies with sustainability.
