FASoS members active on Alarm Day for Science

Several FASoS members figured in the Alarm Day for Science on 6 April.

On the UM website, Pieter Plessis, Yoram Carboex and John Parkinson released their video statements about how the lack of university funding plays out in their work.

Interviews with Lies Wesseling and Harro van Lente appeared in Observant and 1Limburg. Harro van Lente was guest at the evening television programme of L1.

The Alarm Day for Science is a joint action of all Dutch universities to highlight the structural lack of university funding, organised by WOinActie and VSNU together. In addition, local events were organised.

In Maastricht, the statue of Alfons Olterdissen at the Grote Looierstraat was adorned with an action beret, which caught the attention of journalists of De Limburger, L1 and Observant. The video statements were used in teaching – and can still be used!

The WOinActie organisers at Maastricht University are Lies Wesseling and Harro van Lente.
