FASoS Teaching & Learning blog launches debate on the erosion of PBL @ FASoS

In their new blog on ‘The Erosion of PBL at FASoS?’, staff members Patrick Bijsmans and Mirko Reithler launch a debate on PBL challenges in teaching and learning practices at the Faculty. They find that many of PBL’s core ideas have come under pressure. Do you agree with their diagnosis? Maybe you have some solutions to offer? If so, react to the blog or draft your own post!

Problem-based learning (PBL) is at the heart of teaching at Maastricht University and at FASoS. Yet, experienced staff member Patrick Bijsmans and Mirko Reithler argue that there is theory and there is practice: in actual teaching practices, many of the core ideas of PBL have come under pressure. Based on their teaching experience and involvement in several PBL-related initiatives, they identify three key PBL challenges that we should discuss at FASoS.

The blog is the first in a series of blogs on the topic of ‘The Erosion of PBL at FASoS?’, so keep an eye on our website to follow the debate, or follow the FASoS Teaching & Learning Blog on Twitter! Want to contribute to the debate? Find more information on the website.
