On Tuesday 21 September, FEM hosts its very first online lunch of this academic year, from 12.00 – 13.00. The topic of the lunch is peer reviews and the use of neutral language.
Please register for the event via this link.
What is “neutral language” in peer reviews, and why is it important? Michael Erard is a linguist, writer, and scientific editor as well as Funding Advisor for the Faculty of Law. He will summarise a recent Trends in Cognitive Sciences article, “Peer review: the case for neutral language” (Parsons & Baglini 2021) and facilitate a discussion on neutral language, including its challenges for non-native writers/readers of English.
FEM would like to stress that the event is open to everyone interested in the topic, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
