Free writing workshop for FASoS staff by Simon Clews, on 9 April

‘Beyond the elevator: How to pitch your story and other useful writing skills’

Have you tried to pitch a story about your research to a newspaper or popular journal to only be met with silence? Or have you never even attempted such a thing because you weren’t sure how to go about it? Then the upcoming writing workshop may be for you!

When: Monday 9 April. Venue to be confirmed. Please register with Anna Harris by 5 March the latest.

We are very lucky to have secured the services of an international expert in “how to tell a story and the science of making it accessible” – Simon Clews.

Simon Clews has run workshops around the world, and in his home base of Melbourne, they are highly sought after and competitive to join. Luckily, there is no application process for the day long workshop he will run at FASoS, however we do ask for you to sign up by emailing Anna Harris (a.harris@maastrichtuniversity.nl) to register your attendance no later than the 5 March. The workshop is open to all FASoS staff (including PhDs who cannot make his Graduate School workshop on the 11th).

You can find more information in the attached. The workshop venue is yet to be confirmed, but it will either be at FASoS or the Law Faculty.

Please also email Anna Harris if you have any questions or if there is a particular aspect of writing for a broader audience you would like included in the workshop. Also, if you would like to come but can only attend for half a day, please also get in touch as we may be able to tailor the workshop to facilitate this.
