On Thursday 9 November 2017, Hortense Jongen presented some of the findings and policy recommendations of her PhD research at the 7th Session of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP7) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). The COSP7 convenes every two years and brings together more than 1,600 officials and experts from the States Parties, international organisations, parliaments, civil society and the private sector.
The Conference of the States Parties is the main policy-making body of the UNCAC. It convenes every two years to review the implementation of the UNCAC. The event in which Hortense presented her research dealt with the topic of enhancing the cooperation between the secretariats of international anticorruption peer review mechanisms. It was organised by the Secretariats of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Council of Europe, and the OECD, with the support of the Permanent Missions of the Netherlands and Belgium to the United Nations in Vienna.
