Introducing: Ana Isabel López García

Hello everyone, I am Ana.

I am honoured and thrilled about joining FASos as an assistant professor in Global Migration. I study how connections with migrants abroad influence the political attitudes and behaviour of those who remain in origin countries via financial remittances and return migration. My work integrates topics related to crime and violence, bribery and corruption, and taxation and redistribution in developing countries. In most of my research I use quantitative methods of analysis.

I hold an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Mexico’s Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM), and an MPhil in Latin American Studies and a DPhil in Politics (Comparative Government) from the University of Oxford. Prior to Maastricht, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!
