I am Denise Petzold and I joined the Philosophy department this October as a PhD candidate. My project is positioned in the newly conceived ‘Maastricht Centre for the Innovation of Classical Music’ (MCICM) and supervised by Peter Peters and Karin Bijsterveld. In my research, I will examine the accessibility and innovation of the artistic heritage of classical music with help of my contemporary art/museum studies background.
For the last two years, I’ve worked as an assistant curator at the contemporary art museum Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst in Aachen, Germany, where I co-organised two large-scale exhibitions including their accompanying publications.
I obtained both my bachelor’s degree (Arts & Culture) and my master’s degree (CAST) from FASoS. After completing a research internship at Tate, London, during my studies, my master thesis focused on the conservation of performance art, more specifically the role of documentation in shaping the ‘lives’ of performative artworks in museums.
If you want to know more about my research, feel free to drop by GG 80-82, room 2.007. I’m looking forward to becoming part of the faculty again!
