Hello everyone, my name is Joris Roosen and I recently joined FASoS as a D3.
My time is split between working for the Centre for the Social History of Limburg (SHCL) and teaching at UM.
After graduating with an MA in history from the university of Ghent, I obtained a PhD in economic history from the university of Utrecht. My research focused on the socio-economic and demographic consequences of the Black Death. Before joining the UM and SHCL, I worked as a research coordinator for Nyenrode university.
I am almost a native of Maastricht in that I was born in Genk in Belgian Limburg and spent my childhood in Dilsen-Stokkem, very close to the Meuse river. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my son and daughter, playing music and reading.
