Introducing: Nantke Pecht

Having completed the Master of Arts in European Linguistics at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, I am very happy to start my PhD as a member of the Graduate School at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. I received my B.A. in Spanish literature, language and media, with a minor in English and American studies.

Among the many aspects of (socio)linguistics, I am mostly interested in language contact, multilinguistic repertoires and immigration, as well as processes of (dis)identification. My research project focuses on the language practices of former coal miners in a culturally and linguistically heterogeneous neighbourhood in an isolated area of Limburg (B). As a new member of the faculty, I am looking forward to acquiring new skills and contributing to ongoing discussions.
