Job opportunity: two-year postdoc in RRI at University of Bristol

BrisSynBio, a Synthetic Biology Research Centre based at University of Bristol and UWE, Bristol, is offering a two-year post doctoral position in Responsible Research and Innovation. The post will be partly supervised by Darian Meacham (Philosophy). Contact Darian Meacham for more information.

We are seeking to appoint a Post Doctoral Research Fellow for a full-time fixed term post for 2 years commencing as soon as possible.

The post is funded by BrisSynBio (a BBSRC / EPSRC Synthetic Biology Research Centre, University of Bristol) and will be located jointly with UWE Bristol’s Faculty of Health & Social Sciences and BrisSynBio.

You will be responsible for carrying out social science/ethics research pertaining to the use of gene-editing techniques in agricultural crop breeding working closely with Prof. Keith Edward’s team in BrisSynbio. The post is within the Responsible Research and Innovation Theme of BrisSynBio and will be supervised by Prof. Julie Kent (UWE Bristol), Dr Darian Meacham (UWE Bristol / Maastricht University) and Prof. Keith Edwards (University Bristol).

You should have some experience in social science discourses (ESLI/ELSA, RRI) surrounding gene-editing and/or agriculture, or social studies of science and technology, and a strong aptitude for inter-disciplinary research. Ability to work independently is essential.
