Joop de Jong invited by VSCD to reflect on future of theatres

The board of VSCD (vereniging van Schouwburg- en Concertgebouwdirecties) has asked Joop de Jong and his team consisting of Sandra van Helden en Ward Schoonbrood to analyse and reflect on future scenarios as developed by Berenschot.

VSCD is the Dutch national branch organisation of theatres and concert halls and was founded in 1947. Berenschot is an independent management consultancy firm with 350 employees worldwide.

The main questions concern the effects of the coronacrisis on theatres and concert halls, and how these may impact the artistic or intrinsic, the social, and the economic values of culture. Theatres and concert halls are an essential (distribution) link between cultural production and cultural participation. Last year the members of the VSCD offered 29,000 shows, welcoming 10.3 million visitors.
