Joop de Jong participates in research project on self-employed artists

Two national organisations: LKCA (National Centre of Expertise for Cultural Education and Amateur Arts) and Boekmanstichting (Boekman Foundation Institute for arts, culture and related policy), together with two provincial cultural organisations: Huis voor de Kunsten Limburg and Stichting Kunst & Cultuur Drenthe, have invited Joop de Jong and his research team to participate in a research project on self-employed artists.

The central research focus is on the (changing) characteristics of the professional practice of part-time and full-time self-employed artists who are working part-time or full-time with amateur artists, in relation to causes of the economic vulnerability of this professional group, and with regard to the social value they create. The commissioning organisations hope that the research results will help them influence public policy.

The research team is led by Joop de Jong (Maastricht University), Johan Kolsteeg (University of Groningen) and Arno Neele (LKCA), and comprises researchers from Maastricht University, University of Groningen, LKCA and Boekman Foundation.
