Lecture: A Look into The *Real* Belgian Colonial Past, on 24 June

During the past two years, law students Pauline El Khoury and Emma Pecqueux worked on creating a booklet that covers the “real” Belgian Colonial Past.

Join the lecture covering the project and findings. This interactive lecture will guide you through the booklet and give you an overview of the main ‘untold’ story of Belgium’s colonial expansion.

When: 24 June, from 18.30 – 19.30
Where: Statenzaal (C1.302) at the Law Faculty

Register here.

Pauline El Khoury and Emma Pecqueux decided to start this journey based on the shared sense that these parts of history were not enough tackled in education curricula. They managed to finalise a booklet which covers the history of the Belgian colonial expansion, the role law played in this process, and how it still impacts us today (restitution of art pieces, decolonisation of public spheres, …).

For the past month, they have been giving workshops in different Belgian high schools. Now, they would like to finalise their project within the walls of Maastricht University.
