It has been 50 years since the announcement of the end of coal mining in the Netherlands. The Library Spotlight: 2015 Year of the Mines offers a selection of books from this industrial era, which was typical of the South Limburg region. The books are in Dutch and can be borrowed from or consulted at the Inner City Library with your UM card.
This commemoration triggered the University Library to search in its collections for literature on the mining industry in South Limburg. The University Library has dozens of books on the origins and glory days of the mining industry, as well as on the closure of the mines.
