On 23 September 2016 Prof. Maarten Vink, Co-Director of the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration and Development, addressed the Committee of the Regions of the European Union during the 10th Meeting of the Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX) in Oviedo, Spain. Vink talked about the importance of enhancing awareness of Union citizenship rights.
He also discussed some practical obstacles towards the exercise of electoral rights at local levels.
After his talk Vink was interviewed by regional newspapers La Nueva España and El Comercio about migration, the refugee crisis, EU citizenship rights and the current state of the European Union. The interviews were published in the editions of Saturday 24 September 2016.
