Maarten Vink appointed Professor of Political Science

We are pleased to announce that Maarten Vink has been appointed Full Professor of Political Science at FASoS as of Monday 1 September 2014. He will hold the Chair of Political Science with a focus on Political Sociology.

Vink specialises in research on the politics of citizenship and migration in a comparative context. He has published widely on the Europeanisation of national policies in these domains. His current research focuses on the acquisition and loss of citizenship and analyzes national variation in policies and how this matters for naturalization rates and integration outcomes among immigrants. Vink has presented his work in the European Parliament, at the European Commission, the Council of Europe, UNHCR and in various national capitals.

Vink is Co-Director of the Maastricht center for Citizenship, Migration and Development (MACIMIDE), Programme Director of the Research Master in European Studies,Programme Director of the Part-time PhD Programme in European Studies at UM Campus Brussels, and member of the FASoS Graduate School Board.

In addition to his UM position, Vink is Part-Time Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute, where he is Co-Director of the European Union Democracy Observatory on Citizenship (EUDO CITIZENSHIP).

Maarten Vink (1975) holds a PhD in Political Science from Leiden University (2003) and has worked at Maastricht University since 2004.
