MACIMIDE researchers granted working on Europe Fundamental Research Grant

Dr. Bilisuma Dito (Assistant professor, Globalisation and Development Studies at FASoS) and Dr. Michaella Vanore (research fellow, Maastricht Graduate School of Governance, FSE), have been awarded a grant within UM’s Working on Europe research scheme. They have received the grant under action 3 of the scheme (fundamental research) to research gendered inequalities in family reunification policies in select EU member states.

The Maastricht, Working on Europe programme is an initiative of the city of Maastricht, the Province of Limburg, and Maastricht University that addresses the role of Europe within a globalizing world. The research scheme includes four research themes, including two related to migration: identity, heritage, and the citizens’ perspective, and prosperity, welfare, and inequality.

Dr. Dito and Dr. Vanore have received the grant under action 3 of the scheme (fundamental research–early career scholars). They are expected to research and prepare a journal article on potential gendered inequalities in family reunification policies in select EU member states. The funding aims to relieve the research team of teaching and/or administrative duties for (a maximum of) four months (per team), and instead provide the researchers with dedicated research time. The research is expected to be completed at the end of 2019.
