FASoS alumna and journalist Marcia Luyten wins Brusse Prize

FASoS alumna Marcia Luyten won the Brusse Prize last Saturday 18 June for her book ‘Het Geluk van Limburg’ (which can be translated as ‘The Luck of Limburg, or The Happiness of Limburg’). The book deals with the impact of coal mining on life in the Limburg mining region. The Brusse Prize, which carries a cash prize of €10,000, is awarded annually to the author(s) of the best Dutch journalistic book.

Journalist Marcia Luyten is originally from Wijnandsrade and is known as the presenter of the television programme Buitenhof.

The jury said that Marcia’s book offers an equally surprising and enlightening insight into the recent history of Limburg. Marcia performed extensive and thorough investigation. The prize, which is awarded since 2006, represents a sum of €10,000.
