Master’s Final Work procedure 2015-2016

A. First sit: 1 – 30 June 2016 

  • Submit your Final Work via ELEUM/Safe Assignment on 30 June 16:00 hrs. Central European Time (CET), the latest.
  • Please note: for Double Degree Research Master ES students a different procedure applies; you will be informed by the programme director.

B. Publication result of first sit: 26 July 2016 the latest 

  • Passed your Final Work and met all other requirements of the Master’s exam?
    • Your graduation date is 30 June 2016
    • The graduation ceremony will take place on
      • Master European Studies on Society, Science and Technology:  Date: Monday 29 August 2016, Start time ceremony: 15:00, Location: Spiegelzaal, Grote Gracht 80-82 Maastricht
      • Master Globalisation and Development Studies:  Date: Friday 2 September 2016, Start time ceremony: 15:30, Location: Turnzaal, Grote Gracht 90-92 Maastricht
      • Master Media Culture: Date: Thursday 1 September 2016, Start time ceremony: 15:00, Location: Turnzaal, Grote Gracht 90-92 Maastricht
      • Research Master in Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology: Date: Monday 29 August 2016, Start time ceremony: 12:30,  Location: Spiegelzaal, Grote Gracht 80-82 Maastricht
      • Master Arts and Heritage / Master Kunst, Cultuur en Erfgoed: Date: Friday 18 November 2016, Start time ceremony: 13.00, Location: Turnzaal, Grote Gracht 90-92 Maastricht
      • Master European Studies: Date: Saturday 19 November 2016, Start time ceremony: 14:00, Location: To be determined
      • Master European Public Affairs: Date: Friday 2 December 2016, Start time ceremony: 15.00, Location: Turnzaal, Grote Gracht 90-92 Maastricht
      • Master Arts, Literature and Society / Politics and Society: Date: Friday 25 november 2016, Start time ceremony: 15:30, Location: Turnzaal, Grote Gracht 90-92 Maastricht
      • Research Master European Studies: Date: Friday 2 December 2016, Start time ceremony:14:00
    • If you do not de-register, your registration automatically ends on 31 August 2016
    • De-registration is not necessary however possible (to be requested via Studielink).
      • Despite of being de-registered tuition fees for the months July and August will not be refunded.
      • If applicable: don’t forget to discontinue your study financing and student travel card.
  • Failed or No Grade? 
    • You can take the resit on 31 August 2016
    • The resit will be booked for you automatically

C. Resit: 1 – 31 August 2016 

  • Submit your Final Work via ELEUM/Safe Assignment on 31 August 16:00 hrs. CET the latest.

D. Publication result of resit: 26 September 2016 the latest 

  • Passed your Final Work and met all other requirements of the Master’s exam?
    • Your graduation date is 31 August 2016.
    • Check at B. for further information on the graduation ceremony.
    • Your registration automatically ends on 31 August 2016.
  • Failed or No Grade?
    • If you fail the resit in August 2016 the first opportunity to submit your thesis is June 2017.
    • Two options are open for you:
      • 1. Re-register per  1 February to 31 August 2017:
        • You will receive supervision as of 1 February 2017 and have access to the 1st sit on 30 June 2017 and to the resit on 31 August 2017;
        • Submit a request for re-registration 2016/2017 on 1 January 2017 the latest and meet the payment requirement on 15 January 2017 the latest;
      • 2. Re-register per 1 June to 31 August 2017:
        • Submit a request for re-registration 2016/2017 on 1 May 2017 the latest and meet the payment requirement on 15 May 2017 the latest;
        • You will NOT receive supervision;
        • You have access to the 1st sit on 30 June 2017 and to the resit on 31 August 2017.
    • Non-EU student? If you have a residence permit for the purpose of study your enrolment at the university may not be interrupted. The university is required to report an interrupted enrolment to the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). The IND may decide to withdraw your residence permit as a result.  This means that the abovementioned procedure is not applicable for you.  Non EU-students with a residence permit for the purpose of study and a fail for the first sit will receive information about a deviating procedure, after 16  July 2016, via their UM mail account.
