Meeting update: European Studies Programme Committee

During this week’s Programme Committee meeting, we mostly discussed the IWIO evaluations concerning period 2.

Regarding the 1st year courses, the students mentioned some problems with the communication between the teaching staff and the students. Mostly, these issues concerned the Canvas portal.

Moreover, the Student Representative of the first year asked if the take-home exams’ dates could be better organised. Unfortunately, it is not the Programme Committee that sets the dates for the exams but the Board of Examiners.

Regarding the 2nd year courses, both Policy Domains and Negotiation Skills received positive feedback from the majority of the students. However, much time was dedicated to the discussion of the EU Law resit exam: even though the Student Representatives condemn any unlawful and anti-academic behaviour, they found disproportionate the complete and universal invalidation of the exam. For this reason, the Programme Committee decided to invite the Board of Examiners to the next meeting, in order to have a complete and specific explanation of its decision. Moreover, concerning the new re-sit, the Students asked for a clear explanation of the rules, so that everyone is able to rightfully complete the exam.

Lastly, regarding the 3rd year minor courses, the outcome was described as very positive.
