Meeting update: Faculty Council

Find out about our work representing you in the Faculty through the Meeting Updates series in the FASoS Weekly. After each Committee meeting, your representative will post an update here so you can follow our progress and keep up with all relevant developments at FASoS.

This week: the Faculty Council.

Charlotte Lenhard, your second-year BA European Studies student representative reports on what was discussed in the second Faculty Council meeting of this academic year:

“The main issues discussed were the budget and some student and staff affairs. Regarding the budget, the Faculty Councillors proposed hiring an employability advisor and an internship advisor at FASoS to help students with concerns about employability.

We were happy to hear that almost all teaching activities in period two are set to take place in the buildings – no longer in the tents.

The Faculty Board announced that all staff and students are urged to wear face masks at FASoS wherever the 1,5-metre distance cannot be kept.

Next, we presented the Student Representatives’ main goals for the year based on our Year Plan to the staff members of the Faculty Council. Our working groups will mainly be working on (a) diversity, inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability, (b) employability, (c) student support, and (d) administrative changes. Some concrete projects include the employability advisor, more accessible facilities, and a more student-friendly resit procedure.

We concluded the meeting by reflecting on how successful the Faculty students and staff have been supported during the COVID-19 situation”.
