MERIAN launches new website

The Maastricht Experimental Research in and through the Arts Network (MERIAN) has launched her new website.

MERIAN is an environment in which selected PhD candidates from all artistic and academic disciplines can pursue Maastricht-style artistic research.

They engage in innovative styles of research, utilising the powers and fragilities of artistic and scientific practices.

The new website provides further information on different research projects within MERIAN, the MERIAN network, the different partner institutes and news and events related to artistic research and art and science collaborations.

Future projects for the website include a space of reflection on collaboration between art and academia, as well as what it means to use the name of Maria Sybilla Merrian.

Two students from UCM, Olivia Garfitt Christensen and Alice Jourdain are currently following an applied research internship within MERIAN exploring what the sociopolitical implications of having MERIAN as an arts education institution name are. Their findings will be shared on the website.

MERIAN is a collaboration between arts education at Zuyd Hogeschool, Maastricht University and the Jan van Eyck Academie.
