Per 1 April, Tessa Fox will resign as the Associate Director of Studies for the BA ES. We would like to thank her enormously for all her efforts in this position during the last 2 years, and we wish her good luck with her next challenges. We have found an excellent replacement in Arjan Schakel, who is eager to start. Please read more about their motivations below.
“Since I cannot tell many of you in person, please allow me to thank you for many years of wonderful cooperation within the BA ES via this message. I will be leaving FASoS mid-May to pursue something else. Very exciting times ahead!
I am very happy to have been part of this study programme as a student, tutor, coordinator as well as Associate Programme Director. I enjoyed working with Esther and Patrick for the past 2-3 years and have learned a lot from them. On top of this, I have also learned a lot from many of our exchanges, so a big sincere thank you to all of you! A special thank you to Sophie Vanhoonacker, Esther Versluis and Wiebe Bijker who have always supported me throughout the years.”

“I consider it a privilege to co-direct, together with Professor Esther Versluis, the largest Bachelor of the Faculty. The re-accreditation is just behind us and it would be very risky to think that our work is done. On the contrary, the hardest part is yet to come. The revisions have just been initiated and over the coming two years these need to be implemented and consolidated. In addition, we cannot take for granted that we will be able to attract similar numbers of students in the future when we sit still. We need to continuously innovate on our strengths which are academic skills, problem based learning, and interdisciplinarity.
I am very much looking forward to discuss these issues with colleagues during the BA ES day on Wednesday 30 March 2016. My term begins on 1 April 2016 and I am very eager to start. By the way, colleagues do not need to worry, the Friday afternoon drinks will continue when I have assumed the office of Associate Programme Director.”
