The Nationaal Archief and the Noord-Hollands Archief are awarding a prize to research that shows the added value of the availability of large amounts of transriptions in the archives of the VOC (Dutch East India Company) and the Haarlemse notarissen (notaries from Haarlem).
Are you able to show what new research- or visualisation opportunities exist when archives make use of automatic handwriting recognition? Send in your research results before 1 April 2021 and you might win the Innovatie in Archiefonderzoek-prijs (innovation in archival research prize).
The award ceremony takes place during a hybrid symposium on 17 May 2021 during which the winner will present her/his research.
Your research must be written in Dutch or English and needs to make use of the transcriptions of the VOC archive or of the notaries from Haarlem archive.
There are 2 prizes to be won:
- €1000 for the researcher who wrote the best research with the help of the VOC archive
- €1000 for the researcher who wrote the best research with the help of the notaries from Haarlem archive
