Open application call for the position of Excellence Coordinator

Are you interested in the organisation and coordination of excellence education? Would you like to play a leading role in the organisation of research projects, seminars and conferences for well-performing BA students? Do you have the organisational sensitivity to deal with many involved actors, and to conciliate the diverging interests of these actors? If so, please consider the vacancy for Excellence education (Honours & MaRBLe) coordinator at FASoS.

The main task of the coordinator is to oversee the delivery and organization of the Honours and MaRBLe programmes, which are part of the educational offer for excellent students at UM. Until now these were two separate positions, but the Faculty Board intends to merge both positions because of the high number of honour students in MaRBLe projects.

The Excellence coordinator is responsible for among others the recruitment and placement of students, the provision of help and support to enrolled students, the coordination with the colleagues who teach on the excellence programmes, and the conclusion of the yearly activities. Furthermore the coordinator serves as the first contact person for academic and support staff who are involved in excellence education, but also for the students. The coordinator regularly participates in regular UM-wide steering meetings. For a detailed description of the coordinator’s typical activities and responsibilities please consult the task descriptions manuals for respectively the Honours and the MaRBLe coordination.

Considering these tasks and responsibilities the Excellence coordinator should be an experienced member of the academic community who:

  • takes pleasure in consulting and keeping informed a wide array of involved actors, and is able to appreciate and conciliate the various perspectives of these actors;
  • is driven by interest in education and research, but also doesn’t shy away from complex organizational issues;
  • has a clear vision on the desired content and organization of excellence education;
  • is capable of setting out a steady course and maintaining (financial) oversight.
  • is a strong team player who continuously coordinates with students, professors and policy makers
  • is a leading figure who can display decisiveness.

The coordinator is expected to start on 1 September 2017 and will be appointed for a period of 3 years. The remuneration previewed for this position is 140 Solver hours.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send a CV and a short motivation letter/email by Monday 15 May to Nicole Cremers: n.cremers@maastrichtuniversity.nl.
