Vacancy: Vice-Chair FASoS Board of Examiners

Are you interested in teaching and being involved in the educational practices at FASoS? Would you like to take part in the decisions leading to the FASoS assessment policy? Do you have the educational experience and procedural sensitivity that will enable you to deal with individual student cases in a fair and professional way? If so, please consider the vacancy for Vice-Chair of the FASoS Board of Examiners (BoE). More information below.

A main task of the Vice-Chair concerns the handling of the so-called individual cases (e.g. appeals, hardship and fraud). This means that (s)he represents the Board in cases of Appeal and fraud (including plagiarism) as well as in dealing with individual requests of students to apply the hardship clause. In these cases, the Vice-Chair cooperates closely with, and is assisted by the (Executive) Secretary of the BoE. Furthermore, together with the Chair and the Executive secretary the Vice-Chair constitutes the executive committee of the Board. In cases of need, when the Chair is not available, the Vice-Chair represents the BoE. Similarly to the other BoE members, the Vice-Chair takes part in the monthly BoE meetings: prepares opinion statements according to the agenda and the background materials of the meetings, presents reasoned arguments and views during the Board meeting discussions, advises on the advantages and disadvantages of certain courses of action, and provides input for the BoE policy documents and formal positions. Finally, the Vice-Chair presides over a number of graduation ceremonies.

Considering the current composition of the BoE, a new member of the BoE should preferably come from the following programmes: BA A&C, MA A&C, MA MC, MA A&H, CAST. For the position of Vice-Chair we are looking for a colleague from the academic staff who:
• Is enthusiastic about teaching and the organization of educational and assessment practices in our Faculty;
• Holds a PhD title and has taught for at least 2 years at FASoS;
• Has tenure;
• Holds the BKO certificate;
• Has affinity with the legal aspects of assessment policy, e.g. the legislative framework, the Exam Regulations, and formal procedures (appeals or fraud cases)

The selected candidate will receive training and coaching, and is expected to take over the entire portfolio per 1 September 2015. The remuneration previewed for this position is 330 solver hours (i.e. 1 day a week).

Interested candidates are encouraged to send a CV and a short motivation letter/e-mail by 12 January 2015 to: pzfdcwvacatures@maastrichtuniversity.nl

For more information: contact the Chair of the BoE at: e.radulova@maastrichtuniversity.nl.
