Political Science Conference

The FASoS Department of Political Science will host the 13th Political Science Conference (“Politicologenetmaal”) on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June 2014. The conference is organised in collaboration with the Political Science Associations of the Netherlands (NKPW) and Belgium (VPW). The event will bring together political scientists from both countries to discuss ongoing research on topics ranging from comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, and public management to political economy.

Traditionally, the conference starts on Thursday (noon) and ends on Friday (noon). Most of the work happens in sessions, occupying four time slots (two on Thursday afternoon, two on Friday morning). These sessions typically include 8 to 12 papers. Usually the panels address broad issues, so that there is a sufficiently large base to attract participants. Sessions take place in Dutch and/or English.

In addition there is a Plenary Session organised on the topic of “Political Representation in the European Union: Limits and Possibilities”. The Plenary session will take place at La Bonbonniere (Achter de Comedie 1, 6211 GZ Maastricht). The plenary session will be from 17.00-18.30 on Thursday 12 June.

Keynote speakers will be Jacques Thomassen (University of Twente), Kris Deschouwer (Vrije Universiteit Brussels) and Christine Neuhold (Maastricht University). The session will be chaired by Christine Arnold (Maastricht University).

The members of the Local Organising Committee are Arjan Schakel, Christine Arnold, Maarten Vink.

The Politicologenetmaal is sponsored by the SWOL University Fund and the Gemeente Maastricht. For more information, visit: www.politicologenetmaal.nl.
