Ramadan in a Box, in April and May

MSA Nour and RPM would like to introduce you to: ‘Ramadan in a Box’. The goal of this project is to bring people from different backgrounds together during Ramadan and exchange culture, food and laughter.

We are preparing food boxes for you, together with a recipe for a dish that a refugee has brought from his/her home country. When you pick up your box, you are not only getting the ingredients, but also a glimpse into someone’s life.

In this project, four traditional dishes have been prepared by refugees from the AZC in Maastricht. The preparation of these dishes has been recorded and the videos will be released, so you know exactly how to make it.

During the whole month of Ramadan, every week, a traditional Ramadanbox can be bought for €6,-. These boxes contain the ingredients to the dishes that the refugees have made, which are: the Afghan ‘Bolani’ (week 1; can no longer be ordered), the Turkish ‘patlıcan Oturtma’ (week 2; order via tiny.cc/ramadanbox2), the Nigerian ‘groundnut soup’ (week 3; order via tiny.cc/ramadanbox3), and the Syrian ‘Yalangi’ (week 4; order via tiny.cc/ramadanbox4).

Why do we have this project? It’s all about bringing people together in this Holy Month. Because, even though we are separated from each other due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can still share the same meal.

We are very much eager to see what your dish will look like! Post it on your story, tag @msa.nour and @rpmaastricht and use the hashtag #ramadaninabox! And if you want, you can also send your picture to us, so we can share it.
